John is currently the Northern Alberta Area Manager for an Edmonton-based consulting firm. As Area Manager, John is responsible for the human resources, business development and operational management of contracts in the Whitecourt, Westlock, Athabasca, Wetaskiwin and Red Deer areas. Prior to assuming his current role, John worked for five years in consumer and commercial lending for the capital finance division of General Electric Company. In addition to his roles in operational management at GE, John was Chairman of the Edmonton GE Volunteers council for three years and responsible for the leadership of more than 400 GE employees performing volunteer work in the community. During his tenure as Chairman, John helped grow GE Volunteers participation in Edmonton by recruiting more than 100 employees as volunteers, and managing projects that resulted in 1000's of volunteer hours given back to the community.

John has been the volunteer leader of a West Edmonton youth group since 2006, responsible for the organization and planning of activities for youth ages 12-18. John has a passion for volunteering and has been involved in several initiatives throughout the Edmonton area in recent years, including projects and fundraising for Habitat for Humanity, Stollery Children's Hospital, Santas Anonymous and the Edmonton Women's Shelter. In addition to local volunteer work, John spent two years living in Arizona where he engaged in mission service in the Phoenix area. John's volunteer efforts in Arizona included work with the City of Phoenix Residential Restoration Program and State of Arizona Disaster Relief Program.

John holds a Bachelor of Management degree from the University of Lethbridge, and has a passion for learning. As an avid reader, John enjoys a variety of books and online publications related to political philosophy and current events.

As a management professional, John plans to return accountability and competent decision making to the Alberta legislature. John's principled and consistent approach will provide much-needed stability for Alberta businesses, and allow the innovation of Albertans to lead the province back to financial prosperity. As a firm believer in free market economics and individual freedom, John will advocate for reduced taxation and government intervention in the lives of Albertans. John will provide a passionate and intelligent voice in the legislature on behalf of the constituents in Edmonton Riverview.
